Hello everyone
We have lift-off! Tango lift-off that is. We have great pleasure in announcing that under the auspices of the city of Buenos Aires, we have secured the right to host the Tango Championship and Preliminary for the region of Oceania.
Therefore, if you have a mind to compete, you are cordially invited to hone your skills in tango and get ready to demonstrate those skills in next year’s competition.
If you think that you have a reasonably high level of achievement in dancing Argentine Tango or would like to up-skill to a competitive level, then this event could be of interest to you.
Please check out the categories available in the Official & Non-Official events and the rules that apply to each. With the Official categories being Tango de Pista (Salon) & Stage Tango, as long as we have 10 competing couples in each category, then the winning couples will automatically go forward to compete in the World Tango Champ in Buenos Aires in August 2020.
And by the way did we mention that the winning couples will have as Prizes the return airfare to BA and cash contribution towards meals & accommodation. There’s nothing to lose in competing but everything to gain!
Registrations for the championship can be made online at the end of this month 31st August 2019 through our website www.oceaniatango.com.
The judges for the championship are world champions in their own right – renowned dancers, teachers & performers. We are very lucky to have the highly regarded couples Clarisa Aragon & Jonathan Saavedra and Fernando Gracia & Sol Cerquides for not only will they judge the competition but will also teach and perform some of the most critically acclaimed tango on the world stage. This opportunity to see such high-class performers does not occur very often. So please put a ring around the dates19th – 22nd March 2020 for the championship (either participant or spectator), the workshops and spectacular performances for which these couples are renown.
So, we look forward to seeing you March 2020 in Auckland for the Oceania Tango Congress & Championship!
