Rani Mahelona

I’m a Hawai’i born Maori/Hawaiian girl whose love for dance started at a young age with the Hula! My dance experience began with performing at Polynesian Festivals as a teenager and continued all through University as a performer at the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu, as well as a performance group called Living Legends, where I danced Polynesian, Native American and Latin American folklore.

I was introduced to Argentine Tango in 2008 and vowed it would be the next dance style I would learn. I was told early on by Tanguero friends that the Argentine Tango will either spit me out, or totally consume me!

And so here I am 12 years later, still in love with this beautifully complex dance that I call the dance of my heart. It has captured me and allowed me to express myself in a way that is unique to any other form of dance I have experienced.

I am passionate about my tango and feel a deep desire to share the knowledge and skills I have learned from the world class teachers I have had the privilege of learning from over the years.
