Orquesta Tipica Victor was set up by the Victor Recording Company in the mid-1920s to record tango music for radio broadcasting and record sales.
Adolfo Carabelli, a well-known classical and jazz pianist created the musical arrangements, hired the best musicians from many of the best BsAs tango orquestas tipicas, and led the recordings through to the mid-1930s. Orquesta Tipica Victor was solely a studio band and never performed live in public. Carabelli’s bands performed only jazz or classical music.
