Tipica Victor Corrales Tanda – August 6, 2020

This Tango Mahi “Tanda of the Week” is a Vals tanda of “Orquesta Tipica Victor” featuring vocalist Mario Corrales
1939 “Anita”
1939 “Noche de estrellas”
1940 “Temo”

Orquesta Tipica Victor was set up by the Victor Recording Company in the mid-1920s to record tango music for radio broadcasting and record sales.

Adolfo Carabelli, a well-known classical and jazz pianist created the musical arrangements, hired the best musicians from many of the best BsAs tango orquestas tipicas, and led the recordings through to the mid-1930s. Orquesta Tipica Victor was solely a studio band and never performed live in public. Carabelli’s bands performed only jazz or classical music.

A beautiful demonstration of dancing to “Temo” by Peninsula Cho and Yasmin Karatuna is available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zOYVFwXDEk&t=43s
